Some of the
vintage autographs in this area came from two old autograph books I acquired in the
early 1960's and from a collection of many insignificant personal letters and
documents an uncle of mine collected. Unfortunately my uncle clipped all of the
signatures from the letters and documents. As I understand, sometime during WWII
in Atlanta, Georgia, my uncle bought a collection of 5 bound volumes of Civil
War era Harper's Weekly and several boxes of miscellaneous material. The
collection of personal letters were in that miscellaneous material.
If the item is
pictured on a descriptive album page, that item comes in a heavy poly holder
punched to fit a standard 3-ring binder. The ones with a brief description at
the bottom are 8.5" x 5.5" (like Pete Dawkins in Sports) and the ones that have
lengthy descriptions (like Mario Andretti in Sports) are 8.5" x 11." If the
autographed item is too large for the album page, it will be included in the
poly holder. On ones that are affixed to the album page, they can be easily
removed without damage.
Shipping and
Insurance on any of these items is $6.00 per order domestic and $12.50 per order
foreign.

WWI-5
- Kaiser Friedrich III - Friedrich III is known as the "99-day Kaiser"
because he ruled for only 99 days. He was born October 18, 1831 and died June
15, 1888. When his father, Wilhelm I, died March 9, 1888 he became the new
Kaiser. he had cancer of the larynx, but it was misdiagnosed and as a result,
surgery that might have cured the cancer was not performed. When the error was
caught it was too late to operate. In February a tracheotomy was performed to
enable him to breath and as the result of the tracheotomy he was unable to speak
for the remainder of his life - communicating through writing. He ruled for only
99 days before his death and was succeeded by his son, Wilhelm II. This is
another beautiful portrait card of Friedrich II and it is accompanied by a
handwritten and signed document. The document is on his personal blind embossed
stationery. The lower right corner is missing, but no text is effected.

Saddam Hussein
- This is a very rare "typescript" autograph of the late Iraqi dictator,
Saddam Hussein in blue ink. For more information about typescript,
This autograph came from an official document similar to the next item.
Hussein signed over the printed copy, "Saddam Hussein, President of the
Revolutionary Council." |

Saddam Hussein
-This outstanding and rare document is an official Iraqi document that is
boldly signed in black ink by dictator, Saddam Hussein. It is on official
Iraqi letterhead with a very elaborate border. There are four holes on the
right margin resulting from the document having been bound in a binder. This
is an official administrative order. Hussein signed over the printed copy,
"Saddam Hussein, President of the Revolutionary Council." This is
the complete document of the type used to add the typescript above. |

Hussein Era
Iraqi Money - This descriptive album page has an authentic Iraqi dinar
note with a large picture of dictator Saddam Hussein. The note is one of
several a friend brought back from Iraq when his unit returned to Ft. Hood.
This album page comes in a heavy poly holder that is punched to fit a
standard 8.5" x 11" ring binder or it can be framed. While not
truly "rare," these notes are very difficult to find because the Coalition
Forces destroyed almost all of them once Bagdad was captured. |

James Earl "Jimmy"
Carter, Jr. (born October 1, 1924) served as the
thirty-ninth
President of the United States
from 1977 to 1981 and was the recipient of the 2002
Nobel Peace Prize.
Prior to becoming president, Carter served two terms in the
Georgia Senate and as
the 89th
Governor of Georgia,
from 1971 to 1975.[1]
As president, Carter created two new cabinet-level
departments: the
Department of Energy
and the
Department of Education.
He established a
national energy policy
that included conservation, price control, and new technology. Foreign oil
imports were reduced by 50% from 1977 to 1982.[2]
In foreign affairs, Carter pursued the
Camp David Accords,
the
Panama Canal Treaties
and the second round of
Strategic Arms Limitation Talks
(SALT). Carter sought to put a stronger emphasis on
human rights; he
negotiated a peace treaty between
Israel and
Egypt in 1979. His
return of the
Panama Canal Zone to
Panama was seen as a
major concession of U.S. influence in Latin America, and Carter came under
heavy criticism for it. The final year of his presidential tenure was marked
by several major crises, including the 1979 takeover of the American embassy
in
Iran and
holding of hostages
by Iranian students, a failed
rescue attempt of the
hostages,
serious fuel shortages,
and the
Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
By 1980, Carter's disapproval ratings were significantly higher than his
approval, and he was challenged by
Ted Kennedy for the
Democratic Party
nomination in the
1980 election. Carter
defeated Kennedy for the nomination, but lost the election to
Republican
Ronald Reagan.
Carter was a graduate of the
U.S. Naval Academy. He is considered by many as being the least effective
President of the 20th century.

Lech Wałęsa
was born September 29, 1943. He is a
Polish
politician and a
former
trade union and
human rights
activist. He co-founded
Solidarity, the
Soviet bloc's first
independent
trade union, won the
Nobel Peace Prize in
1983, and served as
President of Poland
from 1990 to 1995. This is a full-page magazine photo
that is boldly signed by Walesa in the upper right corner. Walesa autographs
normally range from about $400 for a clipped signature to about $1,000 for a
signed photo. |

William Green (March
3,
1873 –
November 21,
1952) was president
of the
American Federation of Labor
from 1924 to 1952. The son of
Welsh immigrant
coal miners from
Coshocton, Ohio, he
was elected secretary of the
United Mine Workers of America
in 1891. In 1910, he was elected to the
Ohio Senate, where he
served as both Senate president pro tempore and
Democratic floor
leader. He was named to the
AFL Executive Council
in 1914, and became Secretary-Treasurer in 1916. In 1924 he became president
of the AFL following the death of
Samuel Gompers, a
position he held until his death. He is best remembered for having presided
over the split in the AFL which led to the founding of the
Congress of Industrial Organizations
(CIO).
He was regarded, both by his contemporaries and
historically, as a very mild mannered leader who deferred on nearly all
matters to aides such as
Matthew Woll and his
more distinguished successor
George Meany.
This unusual autograph is on a
block of 4 postage stamps.
